In 2023, to facilitate the upgrade of the air conditioning system in the University of Sussex’s Accelerator building, a comprehensive laboratory equipment relocation project was undertaken.
This project involved the careful movement, management, and storage of specialised equipment, associated furniture, and paperwork.
Scope Of The Project
Relocation: Moving various items from the Accelerator building to designated locations within the university premises and to Cube Self Storage facility.
Move Management: Planning and overseeing the entire relocation process, ensuring smooth execution and adherence to deadlines.
Storage: Providing 150 sq.ft. of secure storage space and necessary crates for the relocated items.
Specialist Equipment: Providing cages, moving crates, IT (computer) crates, flat screen covers, large server crates, pallets, polythene sheets and protective materials.
Building Protection
Prior to the move, Cube’s expert movers meticulously documented the building’s interior using a digital camera. This collaborative approach ensured transparent communication, as any identified concerns were addressed and confirmed in a mutually agreed-upon report.
To safeguard vulnerable areas like doorways, elevator interiors, and access routes, the team employed a combination of protective materials, including Correx, layered paper covers, and hardboards.

We offered a comprehensive solution for relocating Sussex’s allocated furniture and lab equipment to designated storage areas. Our services encompass:
Comprehensive Project Management
Planning and Execution: We meticulously planned and executed the move, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
Mapping and Coordination: We worked closely with Sussex’s Project Manager to map out the precise origin and destination of each item.
Professional Equipment and Personnel
Equipment: Cube provided all necessary professional equipment to ensure the safe and secure movement of effects, documents and furniture. The movers organised delicate items in the smaller crates and put them under the table above ground level in case of flooding.
Supervision: On-site supervisors oversaw the entire operation, ensuring quality control and adherence to safety protocols.
Skilled Teams: Our team of qualified Packers, Fitters, and Porters possess the expertise to handle the move efficiently. The team were responsible for the larger laboratory equipment relocation and polythene covered all the large Optical lab tables, canopy shelves and cupboards within the lab rooms to prevent dust during the air conditioning works. The kitchen table was dismantled, and TV’s were carefully removed from the walls and protected in card sheeting and furniture guard.

Final Confirmation: Upon successful delivery of all items to designated storage areas, we obtained the final approval, signifying project completion.
