The Client
Worth School is a co-educational Roman Catholic day and boarding school for 11 to 18-year-olds, well-known for effectively imparting strong values around collective responsibility, honesty and kindness. In 2012 Tatler reported that 8% of the school’s students later go on to study at either Cambridge or Oxford Universities. The 500-acre campus is set across the idyllic West Sussex countryside, close to Central London as well as Heathrow and Gatwick International Airports.
The Project
In Spring 2022, Worth School had a requirement for the packing, relocation and sequential unpacking of approximately 300 linear metres of book stock, as well as the integration of approximately 20 linear metres of reference books from the Teaching Block on the 2nd floor to a new building called Six Form Study Centre on the Ground floor.
The Solution
Edward Baden’s main objective is to execute the relocation with a minimum of disruption to Worth School and its teams. With over 20 years of expertise in the relocations industry, we thoroughly planned the project and ensured a seamless transition between buildings.

The Process
The team minimised any possible disruption as the project took place during normal working hours. On the first moving day, Edward Baden carried out an interior building condition audit to identify any key areas of past damage. Protective materials were installed by the team to ensure the protection of the building. Hardboards were laid from the reception and main entrance to vehicle points as well as all main access routes. Lift interiors were protected by use of hardboard and correx and main exit doors were layered with paper covers.
The sequential packing of 300 linear metres of book stock were carefully placed into 60cm lidded crates. After each crate were labelled with a new bookcase and shelf location, our main relocation team (comprised of a Senior Supervisor, three packers and three porters) relocated the crates from the 2nd floor via the stairs from Teaching block via covered footpath to new Six Form Study Centre ground floor at rear of teaching block.
The crates were then unpacked at their predetermined destination in a pre-agreed sequence. The team undertook the relocation of 150 linear metres per day. Upon completion, the team recovered any equipment and crates, as well as lifted the building protection. Our Team Supervisor signed off with the on-site client representative to ensure all moving tasks were complete and met client’s satisfaction and approval.
Project Highlights
Edward Baden worked closely with Worth School to guarantee a smooth relocation. We arranged on-site supervision and constantly reviewed activities and deadlines with the site Project Manager. The sign-off of the project only happened when everything was fully completed. All unwanted furniture and items were cleared and environmentally disposed of.
