Sevenoaks is a co-educational day and boarding school for 11 to 18-year-olds providing strong pastoral and co-curricular foundation using an innovative approach to education and academic excellence. Situated in the Kent countryside, just half an hour from Central London and Gatwick International Airport, this superb 100-acre campus offers students, The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
The Project
In July 2020, Sevenoaks School had a requirement for the relocation to Manor House, their new office premises across campus from various buildings on campus namely, Temple House, Annex, Old Heads House, Claridge House and Multipurpose Space Science Block. The project consisted of the relocation of furniture, equipment, filing and personal effects, including the decommissioning and recommissioning of all PCs and associated equipment, pre-moving packing assistance along with the environmental disposal of redundant furniture.
The Solution
For this relocation project, Edward Baden proposed a bespoke specialist packing and removal solution using its in-depth knowledge and long experience of commercial moves. With years of expertise in the removals industry, we carefully planned the project ensuring the smooth transition between sites and quality of service remains to its highest levels as could be expected from a specialist mover operating under the BAR Code of Practice and with accreditation for its methodologies.
The Process
Ensuring the timely completion with minimum disruption to Sevenoaks School, the project was divided into 3 phases within 3 days. While, Easycrates had been delivered to site a week before for Sevenoaks School to complete their own packing.
Project Highlights
- Working closely with Sevenoaks School team to ensure a smooth relocation and the removal of effects
- The hire and usage of a small ladder lift to complete the final delivery into the newly refurbished Manor House due to a narrow, steep staircase with a tight turn at top in the stairwell.
- Decommissioning and recommissioning of all PCs and associated equipment by in-house IT Team
- Usage of Specialist IT Easycrates – to ensure the safe transit of all IT equipment
- Delicate Handling: Relocation of artwork by our specialised in-house porters.
- Coloured Labelling Identification System – Workstations / desks were each given a unique position number and identified sequentially on the floor plan through coloured labels.
Additional Information
With a 600-year history, Sevenoaks School has over 1180 pupils, including international students from across 45 countries. Around one third of the students are boarders, and two-thirds day pupils. The school admits boys and girls at 11, 13 and 16. Sevenoaks has a reputation for exploring new ideas and is known for a global outlook which permeates the entire education experience.
