The Project

Cube Fine Art Services completed a complex project for a London-based public relations firm, which comprised of a corporate office relocation, as well as the relocation of valuable artwork. While the project was carried out under Edward Baden, the specialist movers arm of the group, the art relocation was handled by the same team serving Cube Fine Art Services.

The Art Relocation Process

Prior to moving their full office inventory, the client required the safe relocation of 54 artworks of various sizes and values (ranging in value up to £2.5m). As well as the standard hanging framed artworks, the client required the relocation of a Harley Davidson Hydra Glide and an aircraft wing via stairs. Our project manager undertook several pre-move visits to ensure that the best possible preparation was in place, and to decide on the most economical way of transporting the artwork safely.

It was decided to produce bespoke polystyrene-lined plywood cases for the most valuable artworks. All artworks were export packed by our specialist fine art team, and transported via our air-ride suspension vehicle to the new site over a three day programme. The Harley Davidson and aircraft wing were transported by our heavy division using machine skates, a stairclimber and specially designed ramps.

At the new site we provided a hanging team which rehung all artwork in the designated positions, using a scaffold tower where necessary.
